Star Wars Model Hack
--------------------

It is very important that you unzip this archive using
WinZip or a similar tool that will place all of the files
in the proper folders. This should create a separate
folder for each model in your base\players\ folder.
Note that the archive is designed to be unzipped from the
top diectory of the drive where Heretic II is stored
(for most people this will be C:\)

Luke and Mara are basic Corvus / Kiera models
with a light sabre instead of the durnwood staff.

NOTE: the light sabre is invisible unless you are
using a modified version of the file:
    base\Client Effects.dll
The modified version is included in this archive
in the base\sabre\ folder, along with source code
for the changes made. See below for more info.

The Magus skin is included in the Luke folder. The
Bomb skin is included in the Mara folder.

Notes on modified version of Client Effects.dll:

The modified version of Client Effects.dll works just
like the original that came with your Heretic II game,
except in the console you can type:

    set lightsabres 1

Note the spelling.

This will create a glowing lightsabre when you use
the Luke or Mara model. It will also create a
lightsabre-like glow around the weapons of players
using "normal" models (like male, female, arthur,...).

To use the modified version of Client Effects.dll,
make a backup copy of your old version (for example,
make a new base\DLL Backup\ folder and copy the old
version there) and then copy the new version of
Client Effects.dll from base\sabre\ to base\

IMPORTANT: If you get a power-up to your staff while
using the lightsabres 1 console command, you won't see
the power-up until you select another weapon and then
re-select the staff.

WARNING: THE NEW CLIENT EFFECTS DLL IS KNOWN TO HAVE
SEVERAL BUGS THAT MAY CAUSE YOUR HERETIC II CLIENT
TO DISCONNECT FROM THE SERVER IN THE MIDDLE OF A
MULTI-PLAYER GAME. TYPE 'reconnect' AT THE CONSOLE
TO RE-JOIN THE GAME. THERE ARE SEVERAL OTHER BUGS
IN THE NEW CLIENT EFFECTS. I HOPE TO REPAIR THEM
SOON; FOR NOW, HAVE FUN WITH THE LIGHTSABRES, BUT
CONSIDER THIS AN EXPERIMENTAL VERSION AND DON'T
EXPECT HIGH STABILITY FROM IT.

DOUBLE-SECRET STUFF: Different values of the console
command 'lightsabres' create different colored
lightsabres. 1 = blue, 2 = green, 4 = red and you
can use these in combination (e.g. 5 = purple).
In a network game, this only changes the colors on
your client, and it changes them not only for you,
but also for every other player.

Have fun!
